If you have travel plans, for Spring break or for anytime, these tips will help you to maintain balance and feel your best, during and after your trips.
Start by packing your favorite healthy snacks. This is helpful for flights, car rides and when you’re feeling hangry in an unfamiliar area. A few ideas: pre-packaged nuts, your favorite natural protein bars, GG Whole Grain Crackers with pre-packaged almond or peanut butter, unsweetened oatmeal packets, organic snap peas or other raw veggies, organic apples, bananas, and your favorite protein powder that you can easily add water to.
Be sure to stay hydrated. Pick up a few bottles of water for the hotel room and eat foods with a high water content.
Do a little research on your destination so that you have an idea of what restaurants and/or grocery stores will be available. Before going out, take a look at restaurant menus to ensure that they have a few healthy options and don’t be afraid to ask for substitutions. Try to focus on protein and fresh veggies.
Be sure to get enough sleep! This is very important and will also help regulate blood sugar, cravings, improve your energy and help you feel your best.
Take a probiotic to help keep your immune system and digestive tract functioning properly.
Stay active! Walk as much as possible; it is a great way to explore a new city! Pack your favorite fitness equipment; TRX and resistance bands are a great choice.
Most importantly, HAVE FUN! Try to maintain balance and moderation, be mindful of your nutrition but don’t stress about it. Enjoy the experience!
