The Bear

The “bear” is a great exercise to add to your training program. It will activate, strengthen and stabilize your core. What is our “core”? It is where movement begins. It is all the muscles between our neck and our knees. A strong and stable core will improve our workouts, our day to day activities and also help to prevent injury.

How to perform the Bear:

Start in a table top position with your hands under your shoulders and your knees under your hips.

Maintain a neutral spine and neck, keep your eyes on the floor. Pull your shoulders back, away from your ears, and engage your core by pulling your belly button towards your spine and tucking your ribs and pelvis. Lift your knees. Start by holding this position for 10-20 seconds. When you have mastered this you can add in additional movement and fun variations!
