homemade protein bars

Protein bars are a convenient option when you are on the go and looking for a healthy snack. Many store bought bars are full of sugar or artificial ingredients.

These homemade protein bars are easy to make and modify and the recipe uses natural ingredients.

  • Recipe: 1 ripe banana. 1 egg, I egg white or egg substitute 1 Tbsp coconut oil. 1/4 cup nut butter. Mix these together.

  • Add: 1/4 cup of your favorite chocolate protein. 1/4 cup flax meal. 1/4 cup flour of choice. 1/4 cup unsweetened cacao. 1 tsp baking powder.

  • Add: 1/4 cup dark chocolate chunks, dried fruit, nuts, coconut, whatever you like.

  • Mix it all together and spread the batter evenly in a greased 8x8 pan and bake at 350 for about 12-15 minutes.

Check it with a fork or knife. If knife comes out clean it’s done. Cool, cut and eat! Store them in the fridge. Be sure to use cacao with an ‘A’ instead of cocoa with an ‘O’ . Cacao is unprocessed and has more nutrients than cocoa.

Enjoy!!
